Purple dot items are sitting at half off right now, and they have already been through two clearance events. Most stores are picked over at this point — but they are still out there.
What this list is
To be clear up front: these are not a penny yet. They are at half off. This list is so you have the barcodes ready and can keep an eye on them.
These are a lot of different home items, with a few other small categories mixed in.
Where to find them
This one really depends on your store. The stores near me have pulled all the purple dot items into one central spot — maybe an endcap, maybe a basket near the clearance section. Other stores may have left them right where they were in their regular aisle spot. So check both.
Also check the new dot sections for misplaced items. Things get shuffled around and end up in the wrong spot all the time.
Two clearance events in, these have been cleaned out pretty good. But there is still stuff out there if you take the time to look.
How to use the barcodes
Every item below has its barcode printed right on the page. Pull this post up on your computer or browser and scan the barcode straight off your phone with the Dollar General app.
- The app tells you whether the item is still in stock near you– this is not always accurate but it gives an idea of what stores you should specifically check for an item.
- It usually shows you a picture of the product too, which helps a lot when the description is vague or abbreviated.
- And it shows you the price your store has it at right now, so you can see if it has dropped yet
Use this barcode list to add these items to your List in the Dollar General app. That gives you visuals to look for while you are out.
If you are new to any of this, start with our complete guide to penny shopping at Dollar General, which walks through how items get marked down and how they ring up at the register and in the app!
Be kind out there
Deep clearance items like these are not always supposed to still be on the shelf, and an employee can tell you no. Just move on to the next store and keep hunting!
Please also leave the store the way you found it. If you pull things off a shelf or dig through a bin, put it back where it belongs. The mess is what gives clearance shopping a bad name, and the employees are the ones who have to clean it up.
Before you go
Remember this is YMMV — your mileage may vary. Not every store runs through clearance on the same schedule, so an item that has dropped at one store may still ring up higher at another. Before you scan anything, double-check that your Dollar General app has the correct store location set, or the prices it shows you will not be accurate.
Check every shelf, check every row,
That’s how deals start to show.
